Infographic and analysis
In this paper, I am going to analyze the principal structure and methods I used to execute my own infographic (the visual representation of information and data (Oxford English Dictionary)). The infographic is titled “Uranium in USA drinking water” and next I am going to detail what organization pattern I chose and why, what was my target audience, what was my main purpose, and the reason why I select the graphics, font colors and size I used in the infographic.
To show the information in the infographic well organized and clear to the audience, I decided to use an organizational pattern known as cause and effect. I find this organizational pattern an excellent option to explain how some irresponsible actions can really impact our world, in this case our waters and therefore, our own health. For this infographic, my target audience are from young people to adult, with ages between 18 and 70. I chose people of those ages to be my audience since I think they have more academic knowledge, and more experiences to help them understand the situation much better. Another reason I selected these group of people as my audience is because of their maturity, and parental ties of some of them will help them take some action to solve the situation.
My principal purpose in this infographic is to inform people that thanks to some actions as bad disposal of nuclear fuel, Uranium is getting in our water systems. I want people to get aware that we need more regulations due to the fact that this very radioactive chemical element can be very dangerous to our health. In the infographic a map that displays official data of how many micro-grams of Uranium are content per litter of water in each state is showed. I picked this map to be in the infographic because it clearly shows and emphasizes how serious is this issue, since people can visualize how many states have uranium in their water systems. In addition, I tried to use colors in which the information in the infographic is good to read like white letters on a colored background. Furthermore, I chose bright colors like yellow and bigger size to highlight statistical data, as I think it can help draw the attention of more readers.
